The third film in the $200 million UNDERWORLD franchise delves into the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires, known as Death Dealers, and the barbaric Lycans (werewolves). A young Lycan, Lucian (Michael Sheen), emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor (Bill Nighy), the cruel vampire king who has persecuted them for hundreds of years. Lucian is joined by his secret lover, the beautiful vampire Sonja (Rhona Mitra), in his battle to free the Lycans from their brutal enslavement.

Underworld 3 : le soulèvement des Lycans, en salles le 18 février 2009, le réalisateur Len Wiseman laisse ainsi sa place au spécialiste (français) des effets spéciaux Patrick Tatopoulos et Kate Beckinsale sa combinaison de cuir à la sculpturale Rhona Mitra, alors que Bill Nighy et Michael Sheen -pourtant occis dans les deux premiers opus- reprennent respectivement leurs rôles de vampire Viktor et de loup-garou Lucian. Logique, puisque ce nouveau volet revient dans le passé pour dévoiler les origines de la lutte, au Moyen-Age, entre les goules et leurs esclaves lycans. Un peuple soumis qui se rebellera sous l’impulsion de Lucian et de sa belle, la propre fille du vampire Victor. C’est un peu compliqué expliqué comme ça, mais tout devient clair avec la bande-annonce.
